Oasis Back London Playing Fields Charity with VIP Auction

Oasis Donates VIP Tickets to Charity Auction for Grassroots Sport in London

Oasis Donate VIP Tickets to Charity Auction

Oasis have donated a pair of VIP tickets to one of their UK reunion tour shows as part of a charity auction aimed at protecting grassroots sport in London. The auction, organised by interior design company Carden Cunietti, will raise funds for the London Playing Fields Foundation, which operates seven grounds across six London boroughs. The online auction, called The Spring Clean, features between 75 and 100 donations from suppliers and other interior designers, including the Oasis VIP tickets to the band's Knebworth House shows next year. Bidding runs until 17 November.

Gallagher Brothers' Continued Support

The donation builds on the Gallagher brothers' previous support for the charity. Last summer, Liam and Noel Gallagher backed the "7 Shows, 7 Fields" campaign, which linked each of Oasis's seven Wembley Stadium concerts to a different playing field in the capital. Alex Welsh, from the London Playing Fields Foundation, expressed gratitude for the brothers' ongoing commitment. "I'm just so thankful that Liam and Noel played all that football on those fields in south Manchester, and they remembered the importance of them," he said.

Grassroots Sport Under Pressure

The auction comes as grassroots sports facilities face increasing financial strain. Welsh highlighted the tangible impact of the foundation's work, citing a study at one of its grounds in Walthamstow which found that activities at the site generated at least £4.8m in savings to the public purse over a 12-month period. He attributed this primarily to "reducing crime, anti-social behaviour, and improving health and wellbeing." The foundation's seven grounds serve communities across London, providing much-needed outdoor space in a city where access to such facilities is limited.

Charity Auction Details

The Spring Clean auction is being organised by Audrey Carden and Eleanora Cunietti, co-founders of Carden Cunietti, who have worked with Noel Gallagher and his manager for many years. Carden emphasised the importance of the cause: "It's really important for people to be able to get outside in a city like London, where there's not a lot of outdoor space for children and adults as well." The auction includes a range of items donated by suppliers and interior designers, with the Oasis VIP tickets expected to be a highlight for music fans.

Broader Implications for Music and Philanthropy

The involvement of Oasis in charitable causes reflects a growing trend of high-profile musicians using their platform to support community initiatives. The Gallagher brothers' connection to grassroots football stems from their upbringing in south Manchester, where they played on local fields. By linking their reunion tour to charitable efforts, Oasis are leveraging their massive fanbase to draw attention to the importance of preserving public spaces for sport and recreation. The auction not only raises funds but also raises awareness of the foundation's work, potentially inspiring other artists and organisations to support similar causes.

A Legacy Beyond Music

As Oasis continue their reunion tour, their philanthropic efforts are creating a legacy that extends beyond music. The funds raised through The Spring Clean will help maintain and improve playing fields across London, ensuring that future generations have access to safe, well-maintained spaces for sport and play. The foundation's work demonstrates the wider social value of grassroots sports, from improving physical and mental health to fostering community cohesion. With the auction underway, Oasis fans and interior design enthusiasts alike have the opportunity to contribute to this cause while potentially securing a once-in-a-lifetime experience at Knebworth.

The auction runs until 17 November, with details available through Carden Cunietti's website.
